BBMTB racing returns with the Autumn/Winter series

Our brand new chief of racing, Scott Melgaard has come up with a format to appeal to all racing tastes.   An enduro style event and a cross country event run on the same morning will cater for riders more interested in gravity laps as well as those more interested in cross country.   There will be prizes for each race and the overall series based on male and female categories of seniors (16+) and Juniors (under 16).

Round dates:

  • Saturday May 16

  • Saturday May 30

  • Saturay June 6 (long weekend)

  • Saturday June 13

**Click here for results for each round and series standings**

Round 1 racing took place around the Mitchells/Dog Trap Road junction, with the  two-stage enduro race using Tea Party and Alice In Wanderaland with a climb up Gin Kana in between.  The cross country race was two laps of Thunder/Flipping Pancakes/Skills Park/Black Duck and Lightening.

Round 2 was based at the Mogo Trig with timed descents of Poachers Rite and Flying Mullet, with no limit on the number of attempts in 75 minutes.  The cross country took place on Half Baked/Zooniverse/Compression Session/Jack Hammer/MayDay MayDay/Zooniverse/Burnt Offerings/Jack Hammer/MayDay MayDay/Zooniverse/Baked.

Racing in this series is from 9-11am, with registration from 8:45am.

Entry fee for each race is $5 cash please (electronic payment can be patchy up on the trails). We will also have a BBQ with sausage sandwiches ($3.50) and cold soft drinks ($3).

Every round we need up to ten volunteers to run the event smoothly and safely.  Volunteers meet at the event for each round at 8.30am.  Please let us know if you can volunteer to support a round.

Important notice about membership requirements:

  • It is a constraint of our current permit with NSW Forestry Corporation that all entrants MUST be BBMTB members.  Members of other AusCycling clubs can get a BBMTB club add on membership for $20 ($10 for juniors).

  • All entrants must have an AusCycling race membership (either off road race or all disciplines race).  BBMTB 'lifestyle' members can upgrade to a race membership for around $130-140 (less for juniors)

  • Please visit https://auscycling.org.au/become-a-member for details of memberships and to make adjsutments to current memberships

Please share these details with people outside of BBMTB who you think might be interested in racing.  There is a 4 week free trial membership - see details here https://auscycling.org.au/become-a-member/free-trial

Huge thanks to Scott for putting his hand up for this, and welcome to the committee!
